Google

Brief

Google required a holistic travel booking experience for internal event attendees and organizers.

My work involved creating a streamlined system that allowed users to schedule travel, including flights, hotels, and transfers for individual attendees or grouped participants.

I designed flexible event formats that could be repeated, group assignments, and intuitive booking flows optimized for both mobile and desktop experiences. This project was executed using Adobe Illustrator for visual layouts and Adobe XD for interaction flows in 2018.

Problem

Google’s internal event travel lacked a seamless, unified booking experience. Attendees and organizers were forced to use separate tools or email chains to book flights hotels and transfers.

There was no support for assigning attendees into groups or copying travel setups across recurring events. Without a clear booking workflow users faced confusion about schedules and travel logistics while organizers grappled with manual repetitive setup processes.

Solution

I designed a unified travel booking system that enabled users to book flight hotel and transfer itineraries within a single, intuitive interface. The Adobe XD prototypes showcased workflows that allowed users to select events assign individuals or custom groups and replicate travel setups for recurring events.

Each modal or screen guided users through choosing flights, acquiring hotel accommodations, and coordinating transfers with visual clarity and branded consistency. Group management tools allowed easy roster assignment and duplication across similar event cycles. This design maintained Google’s internal design language, ensuring clarity and trust across each interaction.

Conclusion

The Google Events travel booking prototype reshaped what was a fragmented planning process into a unified, agile experience. Users could seamlessly book flights, secure hotels, and arrange transfers, either for individuals or groups, with the flexibility to replicate setups for future events.

The design delivered clarity, consistency, and operational efficiency, promising faster setup, fewer errors, and enhanced planner satisfaction. Though the client ultimately chose another provider, this visionary prototype demonstrated how integrated event travel logistics could elevate both usability and productivity.
